Christmas Holidays in the Philippines.

Hi blog readers you know what time of year is it... It's christmas time, at least in the philippines! I am really excited for the christmas period. This year we will be continuing the family tradition of visit my grandparents, family and friends in the philippines. We visit them once every year.

Here is a church decorated in the Filipino christmas period.
I'll be leaving on christmas day. The flight would be on 5.00 am in the 26th of December. I'll be spending my christmas on the plane or on visit to Sydney airport via the Philippines. My vacation will end on January the 31st, 3 days until St Patricks college (my new school) starts!

Anyway you might ask why am excited? Well I am mainly excited because of the filipino christmas spirit. I mean if you have ask a filipino or a tourist has an experience with the philippines in christmas period; they probably tell you they go overboard with decorations. The decorations are pretty blinding as shown to the top right...

Different suburbs in the philippines have competitions on the best christmas decorations and stuff. The philippines start the christmas period from as early as September 1st to January 6th. Philippines has the most longest christmas period in the world!

Another thing about Filipinos is that when new year's eve comes along they all wait anxiously for 12.00am and then release their fireworks. I probably won't get a very good present this year because I'll be travelling all around the place. Although I do know that 2015 will be a great year.

"Ho Ho Ho."
Santa is real. Trust me, kids.
Next year I'll still try to come back to St Benedict's school every maybe, 2 weeks on a Friday. Perhaps see how the new year 8's are doing in Dodgeball.

Thanks for reading my blog post guys. Remember to comment on this blog post! Hope you have a good year, great christmas and may next coming year be better than the last!

2015 is really close...

In term 4 there was a lot going on. I enjoyed the term and can't wait for college. Here are my highlights for term 4...

-Speeches.
-P.E (Small ball skills, cricket and baseball.)
-Space. (mine craft.)
- Passionproject.
- Tech.
-Dodgeball.

These are my highlights. Do you agree with me. My favourite highlight was the space topic. Bye this was my blog post, today. Sorry if this post is short but I had nothing to write about. Remember to comment which one was your favourite highlight. Bye guys.

College. (Next Year...)

This year will be my last year at St Benedict's school. I am a year 8 so I will be headed to college next year. The college i'll be going to will be St Patrick College. St Pat's is very different from St Benedict's school.

For a start they have different subjects in different classes. The St Patricks college is also way bigger. It feels like 5 times bigger than St Benedicts. It has subjects from French to Maths to Metalwork. By the way the college has around 800 or something people in it (If its not 800 people its more). I definitely won't remember all those names.

I feel kinda sad leaving St Benedicts and will miss dodge ball; even though they have it in St Patrick's College. I also feel happy because most of my friends are going there and that they have more subjects their than St Benedicts (No offence).

I will try to achieve being a good student and listening a lot in St Pat's college and perhaps make some new friends. I will find fitting in and knowing my way around the school quite challenging on the 1st day.

Anyway I'll try to come back to St Benedicts to play dodge ball and talk to the new year 8's. This is all for my blog post today. Hope you liked it. Bye. Remember to comment and say what college you are going to next year or what you're looking forward to when you're a year 8.
I am leaving to St Patrick's next year.

My Speech

I did my speech today on Wednesday. My speech was about Marvel Movies. I think that I did okay. I forgot quite a bit that I expected. I went freestyle for a part of my speech. Anyway I think I did good at eye contact. I feel much better, because I finished my speech. My speech was about Marvel Movies.

My favourite speech was Ben P's speech about Why He would beat Xara. Other speeches that were good were JMK's speech and Anthony's speech. Their were make more good speeches but I didn't add them because this blog post would be too long.

Hope you enjoy my blog post. Bye.

Top 15 technologies that are based of fiction that may exist now or the near future. (From reel to real.)

Hi blog readers here is my futuristic technologies that actually exist. I did this mainly fun and to show everyone how much technology has advanced in the last few years. By the way this isn't my speech. This is just in random order so yeah...
By the way this is my longest blog post (so far...) remember to comment which one of these technologies is your favorite below...

Light Sabres.
Movie: Star Wars.
Status: Prototype.

Michio Kaku is brilliant scientist and futurist. He is known for his build of a working proto-type light-sabre. His light-sabre is the same size as a regular light-sabre with all energy source in its handle. The design uses a super heated plasma blade and the heat resistant handle and blade. It can cut through steel and can be wielded like a normal sword. Light-sabres could be used for military use in the near future. Here is his video of building a working light-sabre: Can you build a real Lightsaber ?

Warp Drive.
Movie: Star Trek.
Status: Being studied.

Warp Drive is the idea of going faster than light (FTL). In the movie Star Trek, the spaceships use antimatter engines to go faster than light. Theoretically this incorrect in science because then Einstein's theory of relativity would be incorrect. Yet there could be a way by a decent puncture in space-time to go faster. Although there are things that are suppose to be faster than light, spaceships would need to find a way to stop the spaceship, to an almost complete stop.

Heat wave Weapon.
Movie: War of the Worlds.
Status: Made. (Now classified.)

Based of War of the Worlds book and movie. The martians were using an heat ray weapon to cause chaos and destruction on earth. The same type of technology was used by the US army. It makes victims feel like their skin is burning when their not really on fire. The US army fires a high powered beam of electromagnetic waves at 95GHz. This then heats up the water and fat molecules in the skin. If used for a long time victims can pass out and die. The weapon was tested in Afghanistan in 2010, but was later not used due to the concerns of using it as a torture device.

Nano Technology.
Movie: The Day the Earth Stood Still.
Status: Made.

Nano Technology is now commonly known. Ranging from uses from weapons to healthcare. Nanotechnology is technology that is less than 100 nano-meters. Nano technology is used in many
sci-fi movies such as The Day the Earth Stood Still and many others. Many Sci-fi movies show nano-technology like insects. Nano-technology can be used for carrying out delicate medical procedures or infecting targets with an deadly virus. The possibilities of nano-technology is endless.

3D printer.
Movie: Iron Man Trilogy.
Status: Made for the public.

3D printing is used for many movies, such as Iron Man's armour is 3D printing. 3D printers are so versatile because special 3D printers can print out more 3D printers. 3D printers can also printing out 3D body parts to use for amputees using skin cells. So very cool and useful.

Invisible cloak.
Movie: Harry Potter.
Status: Made for the public.

The Invisible Cloak was a famous gift for Harry in the Harry Potter franchise. Just like in the movie there is a real invisibility cloak in real life. The invisibility cloak uses the same natural phenomena that causes desert mirages. This is done by bending the light away from the wearer, making the wearer almost invisible.

Adamantium, strong metal.
Movie: Wolverine.
Status: Made.

Modumetal is a very special metal. It is not a new metal, it is from combining metals. It is lighter and harder than steel and is practically indestructible. It is possibly the closest to Adamantium we will get too. The metal plans to be coated on cars, planes, vehicles, buildings, armour and many other things in the future.

Force Fields.
Movie: Fantastic Four.
Status: Prototype.

A force field is a shield that protects a person, area or object from attacks from various forces. Force fields have appeared in many space films. In the fantastic four, Sue has the power of creating force fields. Their are also different force fields. NASA has developed force fields for their spacecraft to protect from solar radiation. In order to protect an object from a fired projectile an shield would have to be put up of lasers, Michio Kaku has again made a design for a popular sci-fi technology... Creating a Force Field.

Metal Exo-Skeleton
Movie: Elysium.
Status: Made for army.

Metal Exo-Skeltons similar to the movie Elysium are being made by the US army. They will be used by US troops in war. The Exo-Skeleton Suits improved a man's strength, endurance and much more. They are made to be sturdy, hard and many have a flaw in being to slow and heavy. The USA tries to improve this flaw in many of their designs.

Self Driving Cars.
Movie: Total Recall (1990).
Status: Made.

Google is producing driver-less cars. These cars have a self driving feature and no steering wheel. They operate on a computer and the drive-less feature has 360 degrees of view of the road. The cars have been tested on the roads. They have been tested on cars, trucks and military vehicles. There has been no car crash with the Google drive-less car on the road. These cars can reduced road deaths by half. Google will soon release these cars to be sold worldwide.

Robots
Movie: I, Robot.
Status: Made.

ASIMO.
Robots have been a big part of sci-fi. Many sci-fi feature robots taking over the world and creating artificial intelligence. Robots have been known to take the shape off a human or animal. Robots such as ASIMO (Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility), are making the future seem more of an reality. Many robots have a fatal flaw, the ability to climb up stairs. It may seem easy for us, but for robots its hard. Robots nowadays are guided by an computer or electronic circuitry. Robots are also being developed by the military. Wildcat for instant is a military robot dog that can run up to 16 mph.

Virtual Reality Headsets.
Status: Made for public.
Movie: Matrix.

The movie Matrix it was a giant computer simulation controlled by controlled by sentient life. Just like the movie Matrix, Virtual Reality Headsets are an illusion. A popular Virtual Reality Headset is the Oculus Rift. Its main rival is Project Morpheus which is supposed to be functional with the PS-4. The Oculus Rift has 360 degrees of view. The Oculus Rift has apps as simulators, action and horror. By the way the guy who owns Oculus Rift is Pamler Luckey and is only 22 years old!

Universal Translator.
Status: Made for public use.
Movie: Doctor Who.

In the series Doctor Who has a time traveling machine called the Tardis. As well as time travelling the Tardis can also translate most languages into a language understood by the pilot and its crew.

SIGMO.
No need for learning languages, anymore. The universal translator is a device that you can hook onto the collar of your shirt. It is portable, small and you can take it anywhere. You then press the button on the device. Then say a sentence in a language and it will repeat the sentence you said in a different selected language. Some of their universal translators can correct errors and say what you meant to say. The revolutionary device is called SIGMO, and is currently the monopoly of this type of technology. It can translate more than 25 languages.

Holograms.
Movie: Minority Report.
Status: Made.

Holograms are everywhere, literally. When you have a driving's licence your picture is a hologram. Confused? When you move it back and forth it creates smears of colour. Holograms are also in DVDs, CDs, ID cards and credits cards. These are the worst type of holograms. Large scale holograms using lasers with a darkened room, are better. When you look at a hologram in different perspectives you can see different images. Holograms are really just projected light to make an image. Controlling a hologram through hand gestures would be very hard, but possible.

Hover/flying Cars.
Movie: Back to the future 2.
Status: Prototypes.

Hover Cars have been used in almost every sci-fi movie. From Lola (Marvel Agents of SHIELD) to back to the future 2. There have been underwater cars, so why not hoovering cars. Many designs have followed a similar pattern to make their hover-cars as aerodynamic as possible. Many designs look like plane like cars and have wings.

Things that didn't make the list.

-Teleportation device. (Made.)
-Memory Wiping Machines. (Made.)
-Mind Reading Machines. (Being made.)
-Moon/Mars Bases. (Prototypes.)
-Space Hotels. (Prototypes.)
-Atmospheric Water Generator. (Made.)
-Underwater cars. (Made.)

Bye guys thanks for reading my blog post. Make sure to comment which one was the coolest  and which was the most useful.

Personally I think that the lightsabre is the most coolest but SIGMO is the most useful. See you in my next blog post. Goodbye.

Artemis Fowl.

This week I am blogging about the last book I read. The last book I read was probably Artemis Fowl. The book was written by Eoin Colfer. It is about a smart 12 year old criminal who thinks of a master illegal plan. I won't spoil the book for everyone. This is my 2nd time reading this book. This book is the 1st of sequel. There are 8 books in the sequel. It is a really good book and everybody should have read this book by now...

There also planning to make a movie about Artemis Fowl.

Hope you enjoy my blog post. Be sure to comment and see you guys later. Bye!
Bye Everyone!

My Speech!

Every year our school, St Benedict's school have a speech competition. Over the years I have done various topics and subjects through my years in St Benedict's school. The year 7-8's speeches have to be 3-4 minutes long...
My topic is Marvel Movies. I did this because I am a huge Marvel fan. In fact I've been a Marvel fan for half my life, and have watched almost every Marvel movie, e.g not the very old ones...

Anyway the thing I will try to work on is gestures and perhaps try not to stand still and do something distracting to the audience. I feel quite relaxed on where I am with the writing of my speech, but when it comes to saying my speech I will be pretty nervous.

The longest part of my speech is probably the Marvel Movies coming soon from 2015-2019. I'll have to shorten this part down. I have collected information, notes and written half of my speech and plan to finish it by the end of this week.

Cool facts you should know about Marvel...

-Marvel Entertainment is owned by Disney.

-Disney bought Marvel Entertainment for 4.24 billion dollars.
-Marvel is better than DC, duh!

-The original Captain America film was in 1947.
- There are 18 confirmed Marvel movies coming from 2015-2019.

- JARVIS stands for Just A Rather Very Intelligent System. Just so you finally know what it actually stands for guys.

Hope you enjoyed my blog post. Good bye blog-readers. See you in my next post. Remember to comment on this post. Bye everyone!

The Difference between mass and weight.

Many people believe that the more bigger an object is the more mass it has or gravitational pull it has on objects. That's not true, though...

Let me explain...
Ok let me explain them differently. I explain Mass and Weight in two paragraphs...

Mass

Mass can be described as a quantity of matter.  What this means? This means that Mass is really the amount of matter in an object. But what causes mass?

Everything (almost) is made up of atoms. Atoms are made of 3 parts photons, neutrons and electrons. Neutrons are what really cause mass, because nearly everything is made up atoms. This is why neutron stars have large masses compared to their size, because the stars is made of almost of neutrons. Same with black holes they are made of very crushed neutrons.

Neutrons can be crushed into tiny objects. So you could squeeze a few million neutrons into a marble. Yet the marble has barely any weight, but it has a gigantic mass. That would be pretty cool actually to be pulled towards it from such a small object with little weight...

Weight

Weight is measured mainly in kilograms. Weight can be changed. The mass of an object doesn't change if you move location. Here an example your weight changes on the moon. You feel more lighter because the gravitational pull isn't as strong as earth. Your weight changes and you loses a few kilograms. Were as if you measure an object based on its mass, the mass won't change depending if your on Earth, Mars, The Sun or anywhere really...

Hopefully this gives you a better understanding on the difference between mass and weight. Just because an object is small doesn't mean its mass is small. Hope you enjoyed this blog post. Read my other blog posts and remember to comment. Bye guys.

What I learnt about space.

What I learnt about this space topic was mainly about the constellations. Constellations aren't my strong point in the space topic. I just saying amazing facts about space that probably not much people know about...

Many of the constellations are named by the Greeks. This is because they were one of the earliest civilizations that started naming star patterns in the sky. Many cultures adapt to Greek Constellations and rename them, and give them meaning in there culture. I also learnt the full Greek Alphabet not just Alpha and Omega. Here they are...

The Greek Alphabet is really useful to learn. Many stars have often have an Greek letter in them. It is often Alpha such as Alpha Centauri and Alpha Canis Majoris. I think I also learnt how to spell proplyd, finally.

That's mainly all I learnt about this topic. Hope you enjoyed my blog post. Remember to comment. Bye.
